From the title of this blog post you can guess what this is all about. I woke up this morning and still wasn’t feeling the bike, so I’ve decided to shake things up.

A while ago I found the 12 Minute Athlete HIIT app by Krista Stryker. So what the 12 Minute Athlete consists of is a series of high intensity interval training workouts based on calisthenics, cross-training and functional fitness. They’re short, but they WILL kick your ass.

You don’t need the gym and you don’t need a lot of equipment. Even if you have no equipment at all, there’s a series of workouts for using just your body weight.

You can download the app for iPhone or Android. But if you find the app isn’t doing it for you, check out the website – Krysta will post new workouts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Which is when I also plan on switching my daily spinning session with a 12-minute HIIT workout.

Today’s 12 minutes consisted of 12 sets of 50 seconds each, with 10 second rests in between.

Timer setting: 12 x :10 x :50
:50 Burpees
:10 Rest
:50 Reptile Push Ups
:10 Rest
:50 Air Squats
:10 Rest
:50 Sit Ups
Repeat this twice until the timer stops.

I’m not going to beat myself up about not wanting to spin, as I would’ve previously. Instead I’m going to embrace what my body (and mind) is telling me, practice self-love and move on. No judgement, no blame, no negativity. Just love.
