Recently I watched a video Exploring Yoga and the Impacts of Cultural Appropriation. And it blew my mind. I’m still working through all the emotions and feelings that this video evoked in me at the time, but I’m also reading more and exploring more on the original yogic teachings, cultural appropriation, what it means in my practice and how I could be perpetuating this harmful cycle myself. If you practice yoga, then highly recommend you watch this video. Even if you don’t practice yoga, it’s still a very interesting and humbling video. Thank you nisha ahuja for opening my mind…

I try not to make a secret about it, but if it weren’t for Jamie Morton and Trihardist spinning, I don’t think I would’ve been as into spinning as I am today. About 2 years ago I was looking for something aerobic, but low impact, to compliment my running. Owned and run by Maya Pratt, the studio offers vinyasa based classes, focusing on flow and moving with the breath. Every month the studio focuses on a theme. The month of June was all about the yamas and July focused on the niyamas. During July, the studio also offered an…

In this week’s blog post, we explore the various ways to set up your spinning bike safely and correctly. There’s nothing more uncomfortable (and potentially dangerous) than spinning on a bike that hasn’t been set up correctly to fit your unique physique. “But it’s just a bike!” you say? Sure, it’s just a bike, but when you spend 30 to 45 minutes hunched over it, your body will be screaming that it’s more than just a bike. The dangers of spinning on a bike that hasn’t been set up correctly could lead to serious injury, from lower and upper back…
